We're starting to get used to how thrilled we are with Bandit's foals! His first for 2008 is a gorgeous smoky black (black plus the creme gene) tobiano colt out of our wonderful perlino mare, String of Pearls. He may look like a little guy next to his dam, but appearances are deceiving when the mare is as much of a tank as Pearl is. Smokey is a big husky colt with a lot of flash and class already at just a day old, and we expect him to just get even better as he gets older!

This colt has a family legacy of showing backing up his good looks, including an older sibling, SS Whisper Of Gold, who was the PtHA Reserve World Champion Pleasure Pony filly at halter in 2006. Whisper was bred by Double S Ponies of Angleton, Texas, and is out of Smokey's dam by our stallion's sire, JF Apollo Skyflight, so needless to say we've been very interested in her career. Smokey is nice enough he should be able to do just as well in the show ring, if not even better!

Whisper isn't the only show horse in Smokey's immediate family though, not by far! One of Bandit's other colts, Kirby, recently took a blue in Pony Halter, and another one, Pistol, was recently bought by Whisper's owner to fit for the 2008 PtHA World show. Bandit himself has also done well in the ring with only 30 days of training, and won several ribbons at his very first show. Smokey should be a deluxe show pony for halter classes, not to mention being a great prospect for performance events, both in harness and under saddle. If he has half of his parents' athleticism he should be able to do just about anything you might ask of a pony!
